Lens Implants Explained: Make the Right Choice for You

Lens Implants Explained: Make the Right Choice for You

If you’re considering cataract surgery, one of the most important decisions you’ll have to make concerns your new lens implant. This implant will shape how you see the world for years to come, so let’s take a moment to explore your options together.

Back to Basics

Cataract surgery is one of the most common and successful procedures in the country with close to four million performed each year! During the procedure, your surgeon will remove your eye’s clouded natural lens and replace it with an artificial one, allowing you to see clearly again.

A “standard” lens implant is typically covered by insurance and is an excellent option for most people. However, there are more technologically advanced options on the market, which can help you to reduce or even remove your reliance on glasses.

Let’s Take a Look…

The Light Adjustable Lens™

This is a uniquely customizable lens which allows your doctor to fine-tune your vision after the surgery.  These treatments are non-invasive and use specialized lights to adjust the lens, allowing you to achieve your ideal vision.

Full Visual Range Lenses

This lens is designed to help you see clearly at all distances. Whether reading a book, watching TV, or driving, many patients find they rarely need glasses with these lenses.

Extended Depth-of -Focus (EDOF) Lenses

Providing a natural range of clear vision from far to near, with smooth transitions between distances, this lens is particularly good for people who suffer from presbyopia.

Multifocal Lenses

Using a clever design of tiny concentric circles, this option assists your vision at a variety of distances.

Toric Lenses

If you have astigmatism, this lens is specifically designed for you. It helps correct distorted vision, though you might still need reading glasses for close-up work.

Meeting Your Needs

Even if you don’t have cataracts, you might be interested in refractive lens exchange. This procedure offers the same advanced lens options to help reduce your dependence on glasses or contact lenses.

Making Your Choice

Your ideal lens implant will depend on several factors, including your lifestyle, visual needs, and eye health. At Brooks Eye Associates, we offer all these advanced options and can help you choose the one that best fits your life.

We’d be happy to discuss these options with you in detail during a consultation at Brooks Eye Associates.
